Here are some of the features you'll find on my blog, with notes on where I got my inspiration.
Sunday: Extra! Extra!
This feature highlights any and all blog news of the week -- additions to my TBR list, books I bought, and random happenings from around the YA book world. It was inspired by In My Mailbox, a meme introduced in the YA book blogging community by The Story Siren in November 2008. But this idea didn't originate in the book community -- fashionistas have been posting similar vlogs, known as "haul videos" on YouTube since at least 2007.
In Hot Off the Presses, I highlight new YA books releasing that week. Other bloggers may do similar round-ups --- the idea isn't exactly original. My feature was inspired by "On Sale This Week" at PublishersWeekly.com, the great "Soon To Be Released" photo sidebar at The Flyleaf Review, and the "Coming Soon" pages at Amazon.com and BarnesandNoble.com.
Since I started this blog, I've used it to give try to pass on my extra books to other readers. That's even part of my blog's tagline: "I tell you about great YA books, then give them away."
Freebie Friday was inspired by my love for alliteration and the book (and movie) Freaky Friday. I recently noticed that Hippies Beauty and Books has a "Holy Moly" Sunday giveaway. Holy Moly -- love the pun! And Karen at FWIW Reviews does "Free To A Good Home." Check their giveaways out too!
Standalone Saturday is a periodic feature where I highlight great standalone YA fiction. I started this in January 2012 because of my series fatigue.
In this new periodic feature, I'll pick a timely topic about YA literature or blogging and we can discuss!
Love this feature! I pick a book, TV show, song and then make a list of YA books that are like it.
In this periodic feature, I'll look at multiple books by the same author!
One of my most popular features ever has been put on hiatus: Steal My ARCs.
Steal My ARCs was universally beloved. Maybe this guy will sneak his way back into the blog...
